Welcome to the Homepage of the Austrian Artist Robert Russ!
Robert Russ, the "master of light effects", was one of the best known Austrian "Stimmunsimpressionisten ("mood-impressionists"). During his early years his paintings show the affinity for the Austrian "Stimmunsmalerei" while his later works are characterized by a restless and flickering style of painiting and therefore give the impression of being filigree and delicate. In 1869 Robert Russ exhibited at the International Art-Exhibition in Munich and saw works by Rousseau and Diaz de la Pena who influenced him stylistically. A second source of inspiration was the German Realism. Robert Russ developed a individual style which is characterized by a Pointillism-like painting technique and easy to recognize.
